IF MUSIC INDEED SOOTHES THE SAVAGE BEAST , THEN POETRY SOOTHES THE MORTAL SOUL. LET US NOT FORGET THAT IN THESE NOT VERY LITERATE TIMES, THE POET HAS ALMOST BECOME AN EXTINCT MESSENGER WHOSE MOST EXOTIC FRUITS ARE TOO OFTEN VANQUISHED IN LIEU OF MORE ‘EXCITING’ OR ENTERTAINING FARE. WITHOUT WHITMAN OR ELLIOT OR THOMAS TO ASSIST US IN FINDING THE SIGN POSTS TO ELEVATED THOUGHT, THE IMAGRY WHICH CAN BRING US CLOSER TO ROMANCE, DESPAIR, RECKONINGS AND CRITICAL VEIWPOINTS OF THE HUMANE CONDITION, MAY HAVE BEEN LOCKED AWAY WITHOUT DESCRIPTION.. SO SIT BACK AND RELAX, AS WE BOARD AN ANCIENT TRAIN WHICH SHALL TAKE US TO PLACES WHICH MAY NEVER HAVE BEEN DISCLOSED, IF NOT FOR THE GENTLE GENIUS OF THE MEN AND WOMEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO HEAR.
