This appearance by folk legend Dave Van Ronk was his last appearance at the Bottom Line, a New York haunt that the Mayor of MacDougal Street made his home so many times over his long career. This 2001 performance was only months before Van Ronk’s passing at the age of 65, but is not inhibited in any way by age nor ailment. Van Ronk wins over the crowd by spinning yarns and playing songs as diverse as the solemn “Buckets of Rain” and the humorous “One Meatball.”
