I first met Barbara in ‘69 when she signed on for a benefit I had constructed. She is a selfless humanist who has sacrificed certain world acclaim in the name of conscience and morality. At 86, her message & her devotion are still in tact, never having been unnerved by time and sustained by valor.

Barbara Dane and The Chambers Brothers - "It Isn't Nice" -1966 - Freedom Is Indeed a Constant Struggle and Some Songs That Filled The Civil Rights Movement are Faithful Classics - This Is a Beauty You Possibly Missed, but It's Heart is Unshakable by Time

The very dear Ms. Dane and the great Chambers joined forces in 1966 and created an exquisite Folkways Record. At 86, she is the only living virtuoso I know of who performed with the likes of Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, Muddy and Lightning and one who also lived the art of social protest.
